Josh Howie

"Howie is brilliantly clever, honest, utterly engaging and absolutely fearless." ★★★★★ The Scotsman
"A fabulous storyteller who can make you concentrate in silence then erupt into a fit of giggles. He’s slick, he’s quick and he’s incredibly playful with words." ★★★★★ Metro
"Great things are expected from the abrasive yet strangely lovable Josh Howie." The Guardian

Josh Howie was raised as a Buddhist, before living with Native Americans and finally settling down as a trainee Rabbi. At least that was the plan until he was kicked off the program for getting caught with a naked (non-Jewish) girl. Perhaps it was inevitable that he would go on to become a stand-up comic.

Writer and star of BBC Radio 4’s sitcom Josh Howie’s Losing It, nominated for a BBC Radio Award, Josh is a much in-demand stand-up comic, performing regularly at all the major comedy clubs around the UK and abroad.

In 2012, he was invited to perform at the prestigious Just for Laugh’s Comedy Festival in Montreal, where he filmed the internationally distributed Just For Laugh’s All Access TV show.

In addition, Josh has written and performed four solo shows for the Edinburgh Festival, followed by sell-out runs at the Soho Theatre, and appeared on Dave’s As Yet Untitled with Eddie Izzard.

He has previously recorded two series of the Comedy Central show Comedy Store, and featured on World Stands Up and Comedy Blue for the same channel. He spent four years as the writer/presenter of The Movie Geek on Sky Movies.

Often praised for his writing talent, Josh has contributed features to The Guardian, The Times and The Daily Mail.
